We are proud of our strong academic program and the way in which we work with the whole child as we partner with students and families to understand and respect both the developmental and educational journeys through these primary and teenage years. With enthusiastic teachers, challenging academics, a spacious and inviting campus, and an awareness of the outside world, we engage, prepare and inspire ourselves and each other.
The Admissions Committee seeks students and families who will flourish at Redwood Day School, who are academically prepared for our program, and who will contribute to the diversity and balance of each class in the Redwood Day School community. The school aims for a diverse student body; we welcome families of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin.
Our primary entry points for the 2010-2011 academic year will be kindergarten and 6th grade. We often have a few openings in the non-entry grades and welcome applications.
Admission is based on a written application, previous school records, assessments administered at Redwood Day School, teacher recommendations and, for Middle School applicants, the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) results. The application process begins each fall for the following school year for all grade levels. Candidates are urged to apply early though all on-time applications will be considered together. Decisions are made in early March. After that time a second round of applications will be considered if spaces open up in late spring or summer.
We invite you to learn more about RDS through our many events this year, including Open Houses, Parent Led Tours, and Neighborhood Receptions.
