Prism, a Redwood Day School Parents’ and Guardians' Association committee, hosts forums and activities on matters of diversity. Prism is for everyone, and Prism meetings are open to all members of the Redwood Day School Parents’ and Guardians' Association.
Celebration of Lights
A special event celebrating our families and cultures took place at RDS on December 17, 2009. The festivities included wonderful music, delicious international food, a candle-lighting ceremony on the school grounds, and the sharing of unique stories about the winter holiday season.
In addition to traditions from Kwanzaa, Hannukah, Christmas and Winter Solstice, Celebration of Lights included Diwali (Hindu), Iftar (Islamic), Paranirvana (Buddhist), and the Lunar New Year Lantern Festival.
We hope to make Celebration of Lights an annual event. This event was sponsored by Prism and the Redwood Day School Parents' and Guardians' Association.
