parking safety tips from Head of School
August 2, 2009 Dear Families, As we approach the end of the second week of school, I want to remind everyone of our traffic and parking policies that are designed to keep your children safe, avoid accidents, and comply with our neighborhood agreements. Drop Off & Pick Up
- Please pull all the way to the end of the white zone along the curb, and in the morning, stay inside the cones and exit into traffic only after pulling up to the end of the cone zone.
- Do not exit your car to let a child out, and please do not let children exit on the traffic side of your vehicle. We have staff who are able to assist you in getting your child safely out of the car and to the curb. • At pick up, please be sure to arrive AFTER your child is dismissed; (if picking up sibs, after oldest child is dismissed). We decrease the backup problem by allowing cars who are picking up younger children to move through and out of the line of traffic. (If you are picking up a middle schooler, please do not arrive before 3:25 p.m.)
- There is no parking on the following streets: Sausal (the small street just after the freeway overpass), Morrison (the street that intersects Sheffield at the stop sign) and on the opposite side of Sheffield. Please DO NOT park across from RDS and walk your child across the street.
- Park in marked stalls only, in the front parking lot, and in the large parking lot. Please do not park along the wall near the library - it is a safety hazard for those exiting and entering the parking lot.
- If you do not have a disabled placard, do not park in stalls reserved for those with disabled placards (even if you think "it's only for a minute").
- Please be respectful and courteous to Arturo, Roger, and others who are helping direct traffic and parking.
