Building a Wind Shelter

7th-grade DBi students are working in engineering design teams to build a wind shelter to protect 27 empty cans from the force of a high-powered fan. The structure must weigh one pound or less, be placed within the 3 ft x 3ft grid, and be able to completely fit inside a banker's box. The challenge is based on Tech Interactive’s 2023 Tech Challenge: Surviving the Storm. Along the way, students are building and testing multiple prototypes of their structure and documenting their process in their engineering journals.
