SPRING 2024-25 ASP ENRICHMENT CLASSES

Redwood Day allows students to explore talents and interests outside the school curriculum. Instructors are dedicated educators from within the school community and the greater Bay Area. 
 
ENROLLMENT: Everyone must register online through UltraCamp. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollments are not met. If a class does not meet its minimum enrollment and is canceled, families will be notified and reimbursed for the class. 
 
CHANGES/CANCELLATIONS: In order to provide some flexibility in our programs, all classes may be canceled after the first week with a full refund. Unfortunately, after our second class, we will not be able to provide any refunds for classes. Please note that there will be a cancellation fee of 3% charged for all refunds. This fee is meant to cover the related credit card charges that are charged to the School for the initial payment processing
 
BILLING: Students attending enrichment classes must sign in to X-Care at dismissal. In order to sign up for our enrichment offerings at the rate listed, you need to be enrolled in our X-Care or X-Plus program. Students enrolled in the hourly X-Care/X-Plus time will be billed for any time spent in X-Care before or after their enrichment class but not during class time. 
If you are looking to utilize your discounted tuition rate for our after-school program registration, simply enter your student’s information in the format of First InitialLast Name for the discount code [e.g., John Smith would be JSmith]. There are no spaces or hyphens in your discount code.

  • Fashion Crafts

    Grade: Kindergarten

    Students will explore their creativity and build fine motor skills through a variety of fun projects, including fashion sketching, hand sewing, yarn art, weaving, and more.
  • Lego Builders

    Grades: 1st-3rd grade
    Time: 4:00-5:00 p.m.

    Lego lovers and newbies are welcome! Students will learn building techniques and engage in building challenges. We will share designs and have plenty of free build time. Bring your creativity and prepare to create.
  • Sewing

    Grades: 3rd-8th Grades
    Time: 4:25-5:25 p.m.

    Students will learn to design and sew a fashion project over the course of the trimester. They will learn to safely operate a professional sewing machine and iron, read a sewing pattern, and illustrate their designs. Class will emphasize design creativity and garment construction skill-building in a positive and patient learning environment. All of the materials will be provided including high-quality fabrics, threads, and personalized embroidery. There will be a new project each trimester!

  • Art Creations with Ms August

    Young artists will explore their imaginations through painting, drawing, and crafting. Each session encourages creativity and self-expression while developing fine motor skills. Children will learn about colors, shapes, and textures as they create their own unique masterpieces.

    Calling all super sleuths! Do you love mysteries and puzzles? Join our after-school "Little Detectives" class for exciting escape room-style adventures! Sharpen your STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) while cracking codes, finding clues, and working as a team. Each week brings a new case to solve! Sign up for mystery-solving fun!

WEDNESDAY

  • Gardening Class

    Grades: 1st-3rd Grades
    Time: 4:05-5:05 p.m.
    Instructor: The Nurtured Seedling
    Rate: $390

    In this Spring Gardening class series taught by The Nurtured Seedling, students in grades 1st-3rd will embark on a hands-on exploration to connect with nature and learn about where their food comes from. They will plant and care for their crops while also expressing their creativity through art projects and cooking inspired by the beauty of a Spring Garden. Students will learn about the science of sustainable agriculture, soil health, composting and eco-friendly gardening practices. They'll also explore how to create positive social change through gardening, fostering teamwork, and promoting environmental stewardship, all while having fun with their friends!
  • Hands-on Makers

    Grade: Kindergarten

    Our coding and STEM partners at Kodely are excited to offer our Hands-on Makers class. Students will build fine motor skills, collaborate with peers, and create creative projects through LEGO, blocks, and play-based engineering challenges.
  • Lower School Chorus

    Grades: 3rd-5th Grade
    Time: 3:15-4:00 pm

    Chorus is back for the spring with rehearsals on Wednesdays at 3:15-4:00 p.m. in the Lower School Music Room. This session will run from February 26 through May 14 culminating with a performance for Redwood Day's  Art and Music Night on Thursday May 15, 2025. 

    Chorus Expectations and Agreements:


    Attendance and Punctuality
    •  Students should attend all rehearsals and try not to miss more than two.  Any planned absences should be discussed with Ms. Elizabeth in advance.  Continuous absences may result in dismissal from chorus.  This includes planned absences for any chorus performances.
    Active Participation
    •  Engagement in rehearsals helps students improve and supports the overall success of the chorus. Students should come prepared to actively sing, follow ques and contribute to the group effort. Students should minimize distractions during chorus rehearsals to the best of their ability.
    Respect for Others
    •  A positive, respectful environment fosters better teamwork. Students should listen to and support their peers, avoid disruptive behavior, and show respect to fellow choristers.
    Preparation and Practice
    • Audio tracks and sheet music will be provided to each chorister through google classroom.  Students should regularly practice parts at home to be prepared for group rehearsals.
  • Robotics with Micro:bit

    Grades: 1st & 2nd Grade

    Our coding and STEM partners at Kodely are excited to offer our Robotics with Micro:bit class for first and 2nd graders. Students will learn coding basics, practice inputs and outputs, and work together with other students to build simple arcade games and develop problem-solving and storytelling skills.
